Turnpike Troubadours and Cody Jinks Review
I recently went to see the Turnpike Troubadours in concert with Cody Jinks at the new MGM venue in Boston. Turnpike came on first and while the band and vocals were great they just didn’t bring the energy that Cody did, and I left feeling like they were a little over shadowed. I fully expected Cody to take the stage first, but I am glad Turnpike did because I would’ve been left wanting more. These acts are two totally different takes on country music with Turnpike channeling folk and grassroots and Cody channeling rock and roll, but they brought together two different groups of fans which is always wonderful to see. Many fans said they were there for either Cody or Turnpike, but still liked the other and I wonder if either of their performances made anyone change their minds.
As far as the MGM venue goes, it has its pros and cons. It is clean and big and there's lots of room on the floor to stand. There is a free coat check too which is amazing, especially when seeing a concert in the winter here in Boston. Even the bathrooms are clean and have multiple attendants monitoring throughout the night. However, if you plan to drink here, dont. The drinks are overly expensive with two vodka soda drinks costing around $40. If you plan to get an uber from here, walk a block or two away because it is such a congested area you will be waiting way longer than necessary. Overall, it was a great night and I would love to see both the Turnpike Troubadours and Cody Jinks again.
